How Sportsmart works

Sell in the morning. Shop in the afternoon.

Everything happens in one day, under one roof. Bring what your family has outgrown in the morning, then come back in the afternoon and find what they need next.

  1. 8:30–11 a.m.

    Bring your gear

    Drop off skis, skates, bikes and more at the cafeteria. Consign it at the price you choose, or donate it to the troop.

  2. 1–4 p.m.

    Shop the sale

    Tables of used gear for every age, plus new and used gear from our partner Play It Again Sports. Pay by cash, check or card.

  3. After the sale

    Settle up

    Sellers collect their check and anything that didn’t sell. Your old gear heads to a new family, and the troop heads to camp.

Gear for every season, every size

Winter gear is the star, since the sale lands right before ski season. But Sportsmart is for every sport, from golf clubs and baseball gloves to lacrosse sticks and tennis rackets.

Burgers, hot dogs, chips and soda from the troop’s own chuck wagon. Shopping is hungry work.

Live music

75 Live, a group of musicians from Troop 75, keeps the cafeteria lively while you browse.

$1 at the door for charity

Your suggested entry donation goes to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society again this year.

Why it matters

Run by Scouts for more than 50 years

Sportsmart is Scouting America Troop 75’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Scouts and their families run the day, from checking in gear to staffing the chuck wagon. The money they raise supports the troop’s camping and outdoor program.

Your purchase also keeps good gear in use instead of in a garage or a landfill, and helps local families afford to get out on the ice and the slopes.
